Start from Selecting the Right Dog Bowl

Do you consider yourself a responsible dog owner? If so, you must know the importance of giving your dog a healthy diet, both nutritionally and healthily, because these factors affect not only the health and happiness of pets but also an essential prerequisite for people and pets to accompany each other for a long time. Have you ever thought that the way you feed your pets also has an impact besides food? Let's start by picking a suitable dog bowl for our pet.

Like people, each dog has its characteristics and preferences, so when selecting a dog bowl, we try to meet their needs. When choosing, most people start from the size, wondering whether the bowl can meet the size of a meal for their dogs. Experienced people will look for the details. Choose according to the shape of dog's mouth and the length of dog’s ear. However, one thing that is fundamental but easy to overlook is the bowl’s material. Three basic types are usually available in stores. Each of them has its pros and cons:

Plastic Dog Bowls

From a price point of view, plastic bowls are a good choice. Not only are they cheap, but there are also many different styles and colors. Unfortunately, once you've tried it, you'll find that the surface of a plastic bowl can easily be scratched. Then lead to accumulating food residues and bacteria, which is a disaster for the hygiene of your dog's diet and puts a burden on your washing. In addition, plastic bowls can not withstand the wind and sun, so outdoor use will shorten plastic bowls’ life greatly, making your carefully selected dog bowls into waste. What’s more, the plastic bowl is very lightweight. We know hungry dogs can be excited, sometimes even crazy when eating. They may move the dog bowl around or chew the bowl as a toy, destroy it or even eat it by mistake.

Ceramic Dog Bowls

Similar to plastic bowls, ceramic bowls can also come in various styles and colors. However, they are much heavier than plastic bowls and are not easily moved by dogs. The disadvantage is that ceramic bowls are more expensive and the easiest to break. Imagine when you happily get a cute ceramic bowl, but soon, the bowl cracked a little, and somehow you accidentally found that the damage began to blacken and even had a bad smell. Microbes creep into these cracks out of sight and keep accumulating. Obviously, immediately throwing away the damaged ceramic bowl is the right thing to do.

Metal Dog Bowls (Stainless Steel)

Because of the material, the stainless steel bowl color and style classification are less, and some people have difficulty finding what they want. But you can trust the vets’ recommendation that stainless steel dog bowls are the safest, most hygienic, and most durable. They are not easy to crack and are biting-resistant. The smooth surface makes the stainless steel bowl easy to clean and disinfect. Some products with silicone bottoms can be an excellent solution to the spillage or the noise of the bowl rubbing the floor.
